10 places to eat out in North Norfolk

We are spoilt for choice for places to eat out in North Norfolk. Here are 10 that I like to visit.

No. 1 The Dun Cow ‑ Salthouse An idyllic pub found in a stunning location overlooking the North Norfolk coastline and countryside, The Dun Cow is a ‘must go’ for an enjoyable dining experience. Their expertly cooked seasonal menu offers locally sourced ingredients and has something for everyone to enjoy. Indulge in Brancaster oysters and sip on a chilled glass of wine from their excellent wine list whilst overlooking the marshes. There is also a lovely secret garden behind the pub where adults can enjoy a tranquil evening.

No. 2 Kings Head ‑ Letheringsett Our go to pub, The Kings Head at Letheringsett, never disappoints with a seasonal menu, real ales on tap and a fantastic beer garden. If staying in Holt, enjoy a beautiful walk meandering through Spout Hills and rolling countryside.

No. 3 The White Horse ‑ Brancaster It’s not hard to see why The White Horse in Brancaster is so popular. Set in an area of outstanding beauty overlooking marshland, this award‑winning restaurant offers some of the best fish dishes in the area made with freshly caught seafood from local fisherman. Try the mixed seafood platter or enjoy a lobster BBQ in the summer months.

No. 4 The Wiveton Bell ‑ Wiveton A few miles inland from Blakeney, the Wiveton Bell is well known for serving up delicious food alongside local ales.

No. 5 Byfords ‑ Holt The historical and characterful Byfords is famous for its superb deli and mouth‑watering brunches and sharing platters. Byfords is equally as enjoyable for evening dining and often less busy. Booking is still essential especially in the summer months. No. 6 The Victoria ‑ Holkham Located at the entrance to the Holkham Hall Estate and just opposite the beautiful beach, The Victoria is a handsome, dog‑friendly pub. The Victoria sources most of its food from the Holkham Estate. Quieter at night than in the day, we like to visit for lunch after a long walk across the golden sands at Holkham.

No. 7 Eric’s Fish and Chips ‑ Holt & Thornham Traditional fish and chips with a modern twist. Dine in style in this popular restaurant or get takeaway and enjoy a picnic at Spout Hills in Holt. There is plenty of choice from the usual classics to more unusual options like Japanese fish burgers. Consistently

No. 8 The White Horse ‑ Blakeney Sitting pretty on Blakeney High Street, this characterful but modern village pub is a perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal after exploring Blakeney and Morston salt marshes. A former coaching Inn, The White Horse is managed by award winning East Anglian brewery Adnams which offers a fantastic selection of beers, wines and spirits. Menu includes many pub grub classics – perfect to enjoy after a long coastal walk.

No. 9 The Pigs ‑ Edgefield Just a short drive from Holt, The Pigs is an excellent choice for family dining. Serving traditional British pub food and classic Sunday roasts there is something for everyone on the menu to enjoy. A superb play area will keep the kids happy whilst you sit back and relax.

No. 10 The Globe Inn ‑ Wells‑next‑the‑sea Right in the centre of the most beautiful little square, and in the bustling seaside town of Wells‑next‑the‑Sea, The Globe Inn is a great family dining experience. The food is local, fresh, and simple – designed to please everyone. Interior gives a nod to a beach vibe with wood panelling and rustic furniture.
