About us
Helen and Mark's complementary passions
Mark loves architecture and restoring and renovating old buildings.
I love interior design - combining the vintage and the modern for cool,
comfy and cosy places to stay.
Building a collection
15 years ago we moved from the city to the glorious countryside to work on the first renovation together - an old weavers cottage with 400 years of history to uncover and bring back to life. Since then we’ve restored and renovated a number of amazing old properties. Those early projects went back onto the market, but, having put so much of ourselves into them, we often found them hard to part with. That’s why we decided to keep one or two and make them available for people to enjoy. And nothing makes us happier than that.
History revived and reimagined
The projects often include rural community buildings that have fallen into disrepair or can no longer be sustained. For example, the beautiful Victorian sunday school building in New Buckenham which would have sat empty due to dwindling congregations, had we not been able to turn it into a lovely little bolthole for visitors - The Chapel. In keeping with our ethos of celebrating history and heritage, we love to keep original features when we can. Not only did we keep the original Ten Commandments on the wall, but The Chapel still has its pipe organ!
A key part of our work is using local independent tradespeople and suppliers to make them truly local projects that the community can enjoy and benefit from.
We hope you get as much pleasure from staying in our properties and visiting beautiful Norfolk as we do.
